Matt a „Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts”-ban végezte tanulmányait (kb. olyan, mint hazánkban a Színművészeti Egyetem), 1999-ben végzett.

Színházi szerepei: Curtis szerepében a "The Witches of Eastwick"-ben; John szerepében a "Peter Pan"-ban (Palace, Manchester); Hero szerepében "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"-ban (Covent Garden Festival/Peacock Theatre); Man I szerepében az  "And the World Goes Round"-ban (King's Head, Islington); Bobby szerepében a  "Cabaret"-ban (Chichester Festival Theatre).

Televíziós szerepek: Damien Wetherall a "Holby City" című sorozat hat epizódjában (BBC 1); Rhona (BBC2), és Matthew a "Paradise Heights"-ban (BBC1).
